Announcement of Exhibition “History on Match Miniatures”

April 6, 2012 at 16.00 at the exhibition hall of Lviv Historical Museum (Rynok Sq., 6) will be held the opening of the exhibition “History on Match Miniatures.” This is the first filumenistic exhibition in Ukraine, based on the materials from the private collection of Galyna Panahyd. The exhibition will run throughout April 2012.
The visitors can have a look at the history of era through the prism of simple things of everyday use - matches. There also will be presented brief history of the matches and their development. There will be shown the boxes for matches of different shape and size, labels of various subjects, filumenistic literature.
On the exhibition there will be presented materials from the private collection of Galyna Panahyd, who for 25 years had been gathering one of the largest in Ukraine collections of match labels (20 thousands). Among the exhibits - the label matches of late 19th — early 20th centuries; thematic series of match labels of 1950-1980 (plants and conservation, wildlife, poaching, technology, art, sports, advertising, Soviet agitation and propaganda, space, architecture, etc.). Separately, there will be highlighted the themes: “Ukraine on Labels of 1950-1980” and “Modern Ukrainian Matches”. The exhibition will present the labels from 20 countries, including those which are now no longer on the political map of the world (Czechoslovakia, German Democratic Republic, Yugoslavia, and Burma). In addition there will be also exhibited the calendar made of matches, match boxes and matches themselves (of different color, size, shape and purpose - for kitchen, for fireplace, hunting matches etc.).
Remember that before the exhibition “History on Match Miniatures” there will be held a press conference, which will take place at the conference hall of the Museum (Rynok Sq., 6) in April, 6, 2012 at 15:00. Opening at 16:00.
